Beyond Blue: Inside Ayumu Sasaki’s "Crazy Boy" Moto2 Suit

At first glance, Ayumu Sasaki’s "Crazy Boy" suit for the 2025 Moto2 season appears straightforward—a sleek, light blue racing suit. But look closer. Beneath the surface, this suit tells a deeper story of innovation, precision, and personality.

How does one suit transition smoothly from a deep, dark competition blue to a striking, vibrant sky blue? Precision printing. We began by dividing the suit into two distinct leather sections: the upper part in vibrant light blue leather and the lower part in deep, competition blue. Next, we carefully applied UV inks around the midsection, precisely printing to create an impeccable gradient effect where the two shades seamlessly merge.

But why UV printing?

At REV'IT! TAILORTECH, every detail counts. Using advanced UV printing technology, we ensure vibrant colors, remarkable clarity, and superior durability. Unlike traditional methods, UV inks cure instantly under ultraviolet light, creating precise, resilient adherence to leather. The result isn’t just visual; it’s exceptionally functional. Sharp, vivid details maintain their pristine appearance lap after lap, enduring the rigorous demands of motorcycle racing without fading or cracking.

Precision at Every Millimeter

Behind every detail of Ayumu’s "Crazy Boy" suit lies cutting-edge technology—literally. Every leather panel, every Kevlar section, and every precision-engineered part of this suit is meticulously cut using a new- generation digital cutting machine.

Precision here is exceptional: each millimeter defined by our design department is exactly reproduced by the machine, ensuring flawless accuracy. Each material has its dedicated cutting tool—fine blades specifically engineered for leather, octagonal blades for Kevlar. Choosing the correct blade is crucial, as each tool guarantees maximum cutting accuracy and clean edges, critical for both aesthetics and functionality.

Yet, even with this advanced machinery, human expertise remains indispensable. The cutting process starts with the machine projecting each panel directly onto the leather, creating a futuristic augmented-reality effect. At this stage, an experienced operator carefully decides the precise placement of each panel onto the hide, selecting the optimal sections of leather based on grain, strength, and appearance.

Technical precision defines all TAILORTECH MotoGP suits. Take the front zipper system, featuring a Velcro patch combined with a mandatory double-locking mechanism, ensuring secure fastening even under extreme racing conditions. All zippers used in the suit are self-locking—once zipped or pressed down, they remain securely positioned.

Comfort also matters. Ayumu’s suit incorporates a fully double-sided neoprene collar, optimizing comfort and flexibility. Over the years, racing suit collars have experienced an intriguing "involution"; previously, collars featured refined stretch panels, emphasizing aesthetics and tailored fit. However, modern extreme riding positions and contemporary helmet designs have significantly reshaped this element, prioritizing pure function over refined appearance.

Ayumu’s "Crazy Boy" suit isn't merely about technical precision. His vibrant personality clearly shines through, reflecting a tribute to his Japanese heritage. Detailed dragonfly (Libellula) prints decorate the sleeves and legs, while his distinctive "Crazy Boy" buttpatch boldly expresses his playful yet determined character.

Our journey with Ayumu began in 2023, during his Moto3 days—a remarkable season ending in second place after a fierce battle for the championship. The adventure continued into Moto2, now approaching its second year, with much anticipation for the chapters ahead.

Ayumu Sasaki’s "Crazy Boy" suit embodies what REV'IT! TAILORTECH represents: a fusion of meticulous precision, advanced technology, and authentic personal expression. It’s not just gear; it’s the rider's story.
